The Retro Laundomat

The traditional play within the laundry industry is to find an old store, gut it, do a nice remodel and add great machines. That certainly works in an area where there are no nice stores. But what if there is a new store already down the street. How are you as a laundromat owner going to differentiate your store from their business?

We discuss the three core strategies a laundromat can pursue in the book. One those strategies is the "niche" strategy. It's a way to bring an ancillary line of business, but I feel like the "retro" laundromat falls into that strategy. I think customers feel nostalgic when they go into an older and see those bright vibrant colors. Now, the store HAS to be clean. And the machines NEED to work. But does it all have to be brand new and sanitized?
